Milwaukee Libraries: Atkinson and Capitol

…continued from

Just recently I got to visit two branches – Atkinson and Capitol – both smaller, neighborhood libraries. I visited Atkinson to pick up a DVD I was looking for, and Capitol to hear a presentation from a Madison police officer about what it’s like being a black police officer.

I loved how much available light both libraries had – windows, daylight – that’s always more inspiring, brain-activating than fluorescent light and artificial light, in general. The Atkinson library seemed to have a good-sized children’s area which was pretty cool, and a lot of artwork on display. The Capitol library, I liked the hand-drawn sign for manga/comicbooks – nice of them to give a lil, local artist a chance to show-off. 🙂 Also, I really liked the Capitol display on “Kids Vote”, encouraging kids to start getting educated on the importance of voting and participating in our democracy! 🙂
