Test Drive: Canon 5D III and Carl Zeiss 21mm, 50mm

Last Fall, I had the chance to play with a Canon5D III with a pair of Carl Zeiss lenses – the 21mm/2.8 and 50mm/1.4. I didn’t get to use them for long, but man, they ARE nice. The Canon body was nothing special for me – it is good, simple, and does what I tell it to do. The real fun here was working with those two lenses. I know Zeiss lenses are costly, but dang, are they worth it. It’s like working with my Leica glass. Look at the sky in the movie theatre shot – that richness of tone – that’s all Zeiss.
