Test Drive: Olympus XZ-1

This camera, the Olympus XZ-1 is available at Mike Crivello’s Cameras in Brookfield, WI.

Got the opportunity to play with the 10MP Olympus XZ-1 last weekend. This camera is one of the higher-priced point-and-shoot digital cameras on the market currently, but it also sports one of the fastest lenses on the market too (opening to f1.9 on the wide-angle end of a 28-112mm equiv. lens).  It does seem pretty noisy in the higehr ISOs, but I haven’t used many of the current P+S cams on the market, so I’m not sure how it compares. I liked the control layout, the large screen, and the way it felt in my hands–it felt substantial. I also appreciated being able to capture photos in Raw/Jpg. Here’s a few quick shots I made with in the 24 hours I had to play with it!
