The Follow-Up: Business of Photography Workshop

It’s been two hours since the 2nd FreeTimer “Business of Photography” workshop ended. The four presenters, three portfolio-reviewers and fifteen attendees had, near as I can tell, a VERY good time. We were treated to the high-energy presentation of Erinn Finlan, the humor of Doug McGoldrick, the sincerity of Linda Gumieny, and the touching photojournalism of Tom Lynn. It was a great variety of experiences, stories, tips, photos, and ideas. Each presenter brought a very unique viewpoint to the presenter’s podium!

Following the four hours of photo-presentations, we took a short lunch-break and then got back to work with 10-15 minute portfolio reviews by photo-rep Pamela Kramer, and Kari Braden and Lee Golden, art director and creative director from GT Creative. Our reviewers each made it through about 6-8 portfolios each, giving nearly every interested attendees three different reviews of their work!

A HUGE “THANK YOU!” has to go to Tim Abler and the Cardinal Stritch University Fine Arts Department for once again hosting this event! It wouldn’t have been possible without their generosity! Tim, by the way, has a lecture coming up on April 12 that you should attend. 🙂 He is also currently part of an important exhibition in Madison, WI that is hanging till April 10.

This event was organized by yours truly, Troy Freund.

In attendance were Carrie Anciaux (portraitist), David LaHaye (commercial), Erik Ljung (still/video), and Mike Ford (car portraits) amongst others.

Many of the attendees also modeled some t-shirts on behalf of TEECYCLE.ORG If you’d like to purchase any of these shirts, just contact Tim Cigelske at Teecycle!

  1. Looks like fun. I’m on vacation for four weeks and enjoying Siesta Key Island in Sarasota Florida. Wish you all were here enjoying the 85 weather and sunshine:)
