Non-Leica, but cool all the same…a frog.

A little over a month ago, I acquired the Nikkor 60mm AF-S/G Macro lens.  It sure is a beaut and its close-focus point of 9 inches is pretty extraordinary.  Until last week though, I haven’t had a great opportunity to see what it can do at that minimum focusing distance.

My family and I were at my brother’s chicken coop, seeing his new birds and visited the neighbor who has a very nice koi pond.  Besides the fish in the pond, there was also a very healthy frog population.  So, I tried to see how close I could get with the 60mm.  My brother Kyle got a photo of me, getting to that point and I thought it would be fun to share the result and what I looked like as I got it.

  1. I have used the Leica 60mm macro and the macro feature on both the 35-70mm Vario-Elmar and the APO-Macro-Elmarit 100mm with wonderful results. The 100 is the sharpest lens I have ever used and having the macro feature available on the 35-70 zoom when walking about is a real plus when I see something that wants close up attention.
    Good luck with the macro.
